I will have to admit, that many times when I go into the kitchen, I must open the refrigerator to find myself two minutes later opening the refrigerator again to see whether there is anything new. Why do I do that? I have concluded, there is a conscious disconnect of my mind and my actions, it is much like a reflex, and this can be defined as a habit. Fortunately, it is always stock with healthy things, otherwise, I do not think I would be admitting my personal proclivity. Would you like to know how to eliminate a bad habit? Habits that tend to impede your productivity professionally, relationships and other areas of life? Habits are related to our brain patterns that become entrenched because of the "enjoyment" we derive from them, much like the pleasure of sugar, nicotine or procrastinating from addressing necessary unpleasantries, or anything that makes the brain secretes dopamine, a feel-good hormone.
On average it takes 21 days to rewire for more positive results in our behavior. why 21 days? Will share that on the next post. However, it starts with our "awareness" of our behavior, and with repeated thoughts, urges, and our positive actionable behavior, it will pivot into better habits aster 21 days. It is a matter of encouraging the feel-good hormone, dopamine, to correlate with the “end result” of your positive behavior change. for example, you know that you will feel better and "satisfied," if you stick with your exercise program, you know you will feel better and "satisfied," if you stick with your diet, which incidentally, means "daily lifestyle" in Greek. And finally, you know you will feel better and "satisfied," if you get things done right away and not procrastinate. Will be sharing some tips in how we can get through those crucial 21 days in another post.
